Norman Hassell CDC
Norman is a bioinformatics scientist with the Influenza Division at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He develops computational pipelines for genomic analysis of influenza viruses and contributes to phylogenetic methods used in routine surveillance. His expertise spans sequence analysis, data visualization, and training public health professionals in bioinformatics tools.
Ben Rambo-Martin CDC
Ben is a lead bioinformatics scientist at CDC’s NCIRD Influenza Division, specializing in genomic surveillance and public health data systems. He leads the development of scalable informatics pipelines that integrate laboratory, epidemiologic, and genomic data to support public health decision-making. His work has modernized surveillance workflows and enabled large-scale sequencing and reporting across CDC and partner networks. He also supports state, national, and international partners through technical assistance, training, and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen global genomic surveillance.
